Today is Memorial Day, and it is a day to remember the service of Americans who have secured our liberty. I hope you will not find me to be cheapening that if I take the opportunity to have a memorial service of my own. Deut. 8:11-14 says “Take care lest you forget the Lord your God…lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built good houses and live in them…then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out…of the house of slavery…”

For the first three years of our marriage we have lived in this house, in a neighborhood that I’m sure many would not describe as a good land. But it has been a land “in which [we] have lack[ed] nothing.” We have eaten and been full. We’ve lived in a good house. There are even vines and fruit trees. 🙂 And so as we leave this house I am grateful; We “bless the Lord [our] God for the land he has given [us].”
